Artist’s Statement

I am a printmaker, painter, and multi-disciplinary artist with interests encompassing consciousness, literacy, myth, communication, critical theory, and the effects which changing technologies have on how we create and transmit meaning. I am interested in the unique human capability to carry meaning from the past to the present through language, and the evolving forms that this ability has taken, from oral tradition, to print, to mass media and the sharing of information within digital networks. I am also interested in the how communication breaks down, what is lost through technological mediation, and what cannot be said. My work seeks to address questions of perception, interaction with space, void, transparency, body, and the border between what is seen and unseen, interiority and exteriority.
